Dr. Linda L. Putnam has been awarded the 2012 Samuel L. Becker Distinguished Service Award from the National Communication Association for her contribution to the association and to the profession during her career

Two scholars in the Department of Communication were recognized as among the most prolific scholars in the field.

Howie Giles, Professor, has received the top-ranked paper in the Communication & Aging Division of the National Communication Association.

Dr. Linda L. Putnam has received the 2012 Samuel L. Becker Distinguished Service Award from the National Communication Association.

Dr. Howard Giles has received the 2012 Gerald M. Phillips Award for Distinguished Applied Communication Scholarship from the National Communication Association.

Dr. Tammy Afifi, Professor in Communication, will receive the 2012 Franklin Knower Article Award from the Interpersonal Communication Division of the National Communication Association at their annual meeting in Orlando, FL.

Howard Giles has received the 2012 UCSB Academic Senate Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award for excellence in mentoring graduate students.

Dr. Howie Giles has received two Top Paper awards from the International Communication Association, one with graduate student Doug Bonilla and Dr. Dan Linz.
