Bio

Susana Peinado is a doctoral student in Communication at UCSB. Her research interests are in health communication and include: health literacy, the spread of health messages in social networks, social determinants of health, and patient-physician communication. At UCSB, Susana is a graduate student researcher with Health Games Research, which works to advance the effectiveness of digital games that promote health. In addition to her studies at UCSB, Susana works as a research analyst with the Health Communication program at RTI International, a non-profit research institute in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. She has also worked as a health communication program specialist at the National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH. She received an M.A. in Communication with a focus on health from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Grinnell College.
