Bio:
Dr. Abra is jointly appointed as a lecturer between the Departments of Sociology and Communication. His primary interest is in Social Power and the mechanisms of its expression and maintenance. Recently he has become interested in the social structure and motivation of cheaters.
At UCSB he teaches Criminology, Sociology of Law, Criminal Justice, Communication in Multiple Contexts, Power in Communication, Law & the Legal Community, Science Communication, and Communication Honors Courses. Previously, he taught Social Psychology, Introductory Sociology Social Theory, Research Methods, and the Sociology of Gender.
Dr. Abra holds an M.A. & Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Arizona, and a B.A.(Hons) from the University of Calgary.
