Doctor of Medicine Awarded to René Weber

The medical school of RWTH Excellence University Aachen, one of Germany's Ivy League Universities, has awarded the academic degree "Doctor of Medicine" (Dr.rer.medic.; M.D.) to Dr. René Weber. This additional degree represents the successful completion of requisite academic studies and exams, a dissertation based on three independent brain imaging studies, and a "Rigorosum" (an oral doctoral examination or "viva voce"). Dr. Weber´s work introduced a new analytical paradigm in functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) that has the potential to resolve current issues impeding scientific progress in social neuroscience.
