Hello, my name is Rebe (she/her/hers) and I am currently a Ph.D. student, teaching assistant, and Mentoring Program Supervisor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. My research focuses on resiliency, social support, and trauma. I approach research from an interdisciplinary perspective, primarily drawing from Interpersonal Communication and Health Communication. Special topics of interest for me include preventative health care, reproductive rights, conflict management, community resiliency, and Media Studies. I plan to utilize my knowledge, research, and teaching to play a key role in the movement toward educational equity for any organization I am a part of.

I have experience teaching oral communication, Health campaigns & Service-based communication, and international studies at San Diego State University. While also at SDSU, I was a research analyst and director of communication and marketing for the Latinx Resource Center and Well-being and Health Promotion, running large-scale events and campaigns focused on student health and success. In previous roles, I used my communication research and skills to create learning material for students in Hawaii centered on telecommunications skills and mathematics. I have also worked collaboratively on research projects on topics such as the Dark Side of communication, social support, and political communication. Now at UCSB, I am currently a TA for COMM 111: Nonverbal Communication and I serve the department as the Graduate Program Supervisor for the COMMunity Mentorship Program for first-gen students, transfer students, and undergraduates who need additional help and support in navigating college life and their pre-comm courses.

I am also a communication marketing and social media specialist with 6+ years of experience in the internet marketing industry. I specialize in Internet Marketing, (SEO) Search Engine Optimization, Google AdWords, and all social media outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Google Plus, and Snapchat. As a communications specialist, I have helped businesses by managing all internal and external communication and representation of a company. I am eager to leverage experience in academia into data interpreting and visualizing skills to drive growth. I currently am an internal communications specialist for The Pokémon Company International.
