The mission of the UCSB Department of Communication Alumni Council is to support the professional development and lifelong engagement of students and alumni, and the success and visibility of the department at large.
Engagement: Strengthen relationships between students and alumni and their connection to the Department.
Awareness: Increase visibility of Department to positively impact reputation and help meeting membership and financial goals.
Career: Develop student and alumni career skills, knowledge and professional networks.
Financial: Raise monetary contributions and financially support Council, Department and student needs.
The Alumni Council sponsors a Communication Career Day each spring in conjunction with All Gaucho Reunion, and other career education and networking opportunities. In addition, they assist the Department with development activities and giving campaigns for special Departmental needs.
Alumni Council members also are members of the Chancellor's Council, UC Santa Barbara’s premier annual giving program, which recognizes a special group of investors for their annual gifts to the University. Council members are invited to all campus and regional events, including departmental activities, lectures, and conferences. Membership also includes two campus parking passes per year, library privileges, and recognition in the Annual Report and Donor Honor Roll.
Membership in the Alumni Council is by invitation only and includes a financial commitment of $1,000 annually ($500 for alumni who have graduated within the last ten years). To complete your membership on the Council, please make your $1000 contribution to the Department. It’s also possible to pay this in installments. The easiest way to make your contribution is to pay by credit card on the following direct link: https://giving.ucsb.edu/Funds/Give?id=60 . This amount is fully tax-deductible and will be processed through the UCSB Development Foundation. You can also pay by check made out to “UCSB Foundation” and mailed to Dan Oh, Director of Development, Division of Social Sciences, College of Letters & Science, UCSB, Santa Barbara, CA 93106-2013. Member dues are used to support the Council’s activities and Departmental initiatives such as career development, scholarships, and lectures. Council members commit to a three-year term and attend two meetings per year.
