What do you suggest I take if I want to be a _______?

Are you interested in a particular career, but unsure of which Communication courses are best suited for that vocation? We have compiled a short list of professions that are popular with Communication majors, and paired them with some courses that might aid the pursuit of these careers. Although this is only a guideline designed to help give you direction, not prescription for what you must or should take, we hope that you find it useful.

General

All students, in all areas of interest, are encouraged to participate in internships. Comm 191B, designed for seniors, allows students to receive upper–division Communication credit during one quarter of internship participation. Communication 120, Interviewing, is also relevant to your future regardless of chosen career field. All students can also benefit from the Communication 199RA, Research Assistant, experience. This is especially useful to students planning to attend graduate school. In addition to the courses listed below, look for one or more "special topics" or "advanced" courses throughout the year. The generic titles used for these courses can be very misleading. It's a great idea to contact the professor to find out what they will be teaching when you see these titles on GOLD or in the Schedule of Classes.
