Dr. Andy Merolla will be joining the Department of Communication fall of 2016.  He has a PhD from The Ohio State University, a M.A. from West Virginia University, and a B.A. from Baldwin Wallace University.  He comes to us from the Department of Communication at Baldwin Wallace University. He teaches courses in communication theory, conflict management, interpersonal communication, nonverbal communication and research methods. Merolla has conducted and published research on various communication processes such as conflict management, interpersonal forgiveness, relationship maintenance during geographic separations and individuals’ experiences following natural disasters. He has also studied communication processes across cultures. His research can be found in journals such as Communication Research, Communication Theory, Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Personal Relationships. Merolla was a recipient of the 2014 Gigax Faculty Scholarship Award from Baldwin Wallace. He has also received paper awards at regional, national and international conferences, including the Garrison Applied Research Award from the International Communication Association and the Donald P. Cushman Memorial Award from the National Communication Association.
