Dr. Linda L. Putnam has received the 2012 Samuel L. Becker Distinguished Service Award from the National Communication Association. This award is given to a person who is judged to have made the greatest contribution to the association and to the profession during his or her career. She is receiving this award for her immeasurable impact on the discipline through working with the National Research Council to include communication in the “Survey of Doctoral Programs,” and with Thomson Reuters to include more communication journals into the Web of Science.  This award also recognizes her leadership roles in NCA and the International Communication Association. Her award will be presented at the annual meeting of the National Communication Association, November 14-18, in Orlando, FL.
